SMORGASBORD / Jolly ninong

By LIWAY M. YPARRAGUIRRE

I FIRST met him when he was still a vice mayor. I joined some of his sorties in the barangays when he first ran as mayor of San Carlos City.
His favorite campaign song then went like this:

****
He pleaded and he was given the chance, three times, in fact. Right before the very eyes of his constituents and the people who come and go to San Carlos, the city’s transformation came
He dreamt so much for his beloved San Carlos City.
One of his joys was seeing children and adults alike playing or whiling away time at the city plaza in the evening until the wee hours sometimes, a luxury they could not do before for fear. Read more

SMORGASBORD/ She came like an angel

By LIWAY M. YPARRAGUIRRE

SHE arrived unexpected but was warmly welcomed with pure love and care. She changed the couple’s world upside down.

Suddenly Mrs. Y found herself washing baby clothes in the evening while Leila is asleep, water fetched up at the second floor terrace which serves as laundry area,

The ‘sleeping like a log’ habit changed to half asleep, suddenly jerking to life with every small sound created by the littler one who sleeps between papa and mama.
She occupies a bigger sleeping area. Read more

SMORGASBORD / Manay Gina

By LIWAY M. YPARRAGUIRRE

I HAVE long wanted to interview Mrs. Georgina Vera-Perez de Venecia or Manay Gina to many.
I saw the chance Friday evening at the Philippine Mental Health Association compound where she was the guest of honor and inducting officer during the turn-over ceremony.
Despite my itchy throat and sporadic cough (which was silent during the interview), I told Imelda Clores of Super Radyo I will not let the opportunity pass and I will try my luck to have a one-on-one interview. Thanks to Gypsy, I managed to have it. Read more

VICTORIANO Bugarin is 65 years old; Aida Mislang, 51. Both are from barangay Coayan Quiling, San Carlos City.

Aida, widowed six year ago, has one child. Victoriano is a bachelor.

The story I heard was that the two were former sweethearts and Victoriano started courting Aida again after her husband died.

Finally, they became husband and wife last Thursday *March 8) . Together with 540 couples who had been living together under one roof, they were married in a mass wedding officiated by City Mayor Julian Resuello. The event was held at the city gym. Read more

IT was an unforgettable and worthwhile trip. And what a great feeling seeing the happy faces of those very appreciative people of Sitio Bomboaya at Barangay San Bonifacio, in San Manuel, Pangasinan.

They expressed their profuse thanks to their visitors as for the first time, they were visited by a civic group, and more, given an early Christmas party.
