URDANETA CITY – The Multi-Sectoral Anti-Corruption Council (MSAC) recently held its National Anti-Corruption Program of Action (NACPA) road show here with the theme “Katiwalian ay Labanan, Maging Tapat sa Bayan.”
Ombudsman Merciditas N. Gutierrez keynoted the assembly at the Cultural and Sports Complex which drew a big crowd of educators, teachers, students, government officials and employees from Region I, local public officials and the private sector.
Gutierrez thanked the huge crowd for joining the rally which she described as the biggest and the most successful, the fourth held in the country.
Saying that corruption kills, she rallied all to help combat corruption. “Lead a life of integrity,” she said. “We fight corruption and there will be peace,” she added.
A good governance parade from the public market to the sports complex preceded the program. A medical mission was also conducted at the building’s second floor.
City Mayor Amadeo Perez welcomed the participants, noting that Filipinos are good only at expressing views against alleged irregularities but refrain from filing formal complaints. Perez urged the participants especially the youths to open their minds and help fight corruption.
The roadshow was spearheaded by the office of the Ombudsman, USAID, the Asia Foundation and MSACC in cooperation with the city government.
Similar roadshows were conducted earlier in key cities nationwide. (PIA_Pangasinan)
