SP confirms Baniqued as legal officer
THE Sangguniang Panlalawigan has confirmed the appointment of popular woman lawyer Geraldine ‘Dindin’ U. Baniqued as Provincial Legal Officer at its regular session last July 7.
For Baniqued, it was a comeback situation, having occupied the same position under the former (Victor) Agbayani administration.
The provincial board in unanimously approving Baniqued’s appointment to the mandatory position under the local government code, took note of her competence and unsullied reputation including her winning many crucial cases for the province during her first stint at the PLO.
Baniqued served as provincial legal officer from 1998 to 2005 but later resigned in January 15, 2005. Later in February 2005, she was hired as City Legal Officer of Dagupan City.
She tried her luck in politics when she opted to run for Board Member in the fourth district during the last election but lost.
During her confirmation, Baniqued made a commitment to refrain from accepting new cases in order to attend to her functions as PLO although CSC Resolution # 95-7011 allows civil service employees to engage on a limited practice of her position which the latter was granted with such authority by her previous bosses.
