2 men die in separate violent incidents

LINGAYEN—Two men died in separate violent incidents in Pangasinan during the weekend, the police reported on Tuesday.

The first victim was the officer of a local jeepney association in Asingan town who was shot and killed by unidentified suspects riding in tandem on a motorcycle early Sunday morning in barangay Macalong.

The fatality was identified as Claudo Toloza, 48, director of the Asingan Jeepney Drivers Association who was shot in different parts of his body and died on the spot.

The gunman, who was the back-rider of the motorcycle, used a caliber 45 pistol as evidenced by seven empty cartridges at the crime scene.

Investigation showed that Toloza was sweeping fallen leaves in front of his residence when the suspects arrived. One of them alighted from the motorcycle and walked towards the victim and shot him pointblank. Motive for the slaying is still unknown.

On the same day, a man was shot dead by unidentified armed men in barangay Lucao, Dagupan City on Sunday night.

The victim was having a drinking spree with a few men when he was shot twice and dropped dead in front of his drinking buddies.

Before the suspects left the scene after killing Sonny Lleona, 27, they threw down a cigarette cartoon where the words “Magnanakaw, adik, pusher, huwag ninyo tulara” were written.

Witnesses identified one of the suspects as Edwin Racho, alias “Edwin Bisaya”. A follow up investigation conducted by the police at the victim’s house, however, yielded negative result.(PNA)
