BANTAY, Ilocos Sur—A dismembered body was found beside the national highway in Barangay Guimod, this town last Wednesday.

PO3 Joel Javier, Duty investigator of the Bantay Town police station, said the body was that of Bernardino Laurente, 27, who was identified by his mother Cresencia, 61, of Barangay Pudoc Norte, San Vicente, Ilocos Sur.

Cresencia said her son left their home last July 1 at about 10 a.m. and has not returned since.

She said she heard last Wednesday a report from local radio station in Vigan City about the recovery of a man’s cadaver beside the national highway in Barangay Guimod, Bantay.

She immediately proceeded to the funeral parlor where the cadaver was brought and identified the victim as her son.

PO3 Javier said that half part of the body of the victim was covered with sack while his left arm was cut and his head was severely injured.

The dismembered cadaver was seen by students when they were coming out of their school at about 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday.

Javier theorized that the victim was killed in another place by unidentified suspects before he was dumped beside the national highway in barangay Guimod.(PNA)
