Daily wage earners in Ilocos get P10 more

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union — The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) of the Ilocos region approved a P10 increase for daily wage workers from the private sector, it was learned last Saturday.

RTWPB Board Secretary Exequiel de Guzman said that the increase was approved last May 28 and will be effective as soon as it is published in a newspaper of general circulation in the region within 15 days.

Based on the new wage order approved by RTWPB, the existing P230 daily wage of minimum wage earners in the region, comprising the provinces of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union and Pangasinan will now become P240.

The new wage was decided upon following consultations conducted earlier by the board in the four Ilocos provinces, attended by representatives of labor and management.

De Guzman said workers from the manufacturing establishments will be receiving a minimum of P195 per day from their former daily wage of P185 per day.
