3 killed, 5 hurt in Umingan highway mishap
UMINGAN—Three persons were killed and five others seriously injured when a mini-bus bumped an overloaded motorized tricycle from behind at about 4:45 a.m. on Sunday along the national highway in barangay Gonzales, this town.
The fatalities were identified as Carlito Cariaso, 37, driver of the tricycle; and two of his passengers identified as Anthony Feliciano, 16, and Alberto Esteban, 54, all of barangay San Juan, San Jose, Nueva Ecija.
The three died on the spot and brought to the Mercado Funeral Homes in Umingan.
Injured and rushed to a hospital in Cabanatuan City were Pat Conchita, 50, Gregorio Esteban, Jr. 13; Arlene Medriano, 26, Dave Domingo, 10, Kristine Medriano, 4; and Daryl Domingo, 7, other occupants of the tricycle.
The accident happened as the tricycle where all the victims were on board was going eastward. It was bumped from behind by a Rem Liner that was proceeding to Tuguegarao from Dagupan City, driven by one Danilo Sumido, 50,of Cabagan.
Sumido voluntarily surrendered to the Umingan Police Station.
