RP Madrigal Singers wow Pangasinenses
IT was an enchanting evening of fine music with the Philippine Madrigal Singers, a multi-awarded and world-class choir taking the center stage Wednesday night in front of the Capitol building here.
The concert that formed part of the program “Say Dayat tan Musika” (The Sea and Music), was among the many features of the Pangasinan Pista’y Dayat (Sea Festival) that started on April 25.
The 42 year-old Madrigal Singers did an excellent rendition of soulful, classic and novelty songs, paving once more that they deserve the reputation as one of the world’s best choirs for all time.
Pangasinense who had the chance to view and hear the Madrigal performance had nothing but praise for the group who sang with authenticity, audacity and professionalism while thoroughly entertaining their audience with their zest and innovative performance.
Many say that only Madrigal Singers can bring together the young and old alike to listen to their music.
The Philippine Madrigal Singers who are called “Madz” in short, has consistently won top prizes in prestigious choral competitions, among these were the world-class contest in Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Bulgaria, Spain and Germany.
In June, they earned the honor and acclamation as World’s Best Choir when they bagged the grand prize at the ultimate competition of global champions.
As resident artists of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), outreach concerts has brought them to far-flung areas seldom reached by most performing artists like Pangasinan thus promoting Philippine music and Filipino artist globally.
Joining the Madrigal Singers in the successful event were the equally multi-awarded and musically talented Calasiao Children’s Choir and the Pangasinan Provincial Chorale.
The Madrigal Singers together with the Pangasinan Provincial Chorale did fabulous rendition of the final song entitled “Malinac Lay Labi”, a Pangasinan medley.
Nanette Asis, Human Resource Management Officer And event coordinator, expressed deep appreciation to the visiting singers for gracing the 2008 Pangasinan Pistay Dayat.(PNA)
