Abalos counsel twits Lozada for ‘lies’
THE counsel of former Commission on Election chairman Benjamin Abalos told newsmen here that he goes wherever Rodolfo ‘Jun’ Lozada goes in order dispute lies spread by the latter on the spot.
Lawyer Salvador Panelo cited a litany of lies being supposedly peddled by Lozada, among which was his claim that Abalos threatened to kill him.
Panelo said this alleged threat falls flat on its face because, based on the records of Wack-Wack, Lozada was going there every week to play golf, bringing with him his family and together dine at the eatery owned by Abalos, even after the supposed warning.
He asked, “Will he still go and dine at Abalos’s Restaurant if he was really threatened by the chairman?”
As Lozada was speaking at the inter-faith meeting organized by Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Oscar Cruz at Dagupan City Astrodome, Panelo was presiding at a press conference at Café Gardenia in the downtown area.
“He can not present any document to prove what he’s been saying. In my case, the documents are with me,” Panelo added, waving a sheaf of papers purportedly belying Lozada’s
allegations.
He said if Lozada tells lies, he can say to the people straight that the fellow is lying because he has not a single document to present.
These documents, he said, did not come from his client Abalos but from the Department of Transportation and Communication, Joey de Venecia III and the contract itself between Lozada and Commission on Higher Education Chairman Romulo Neri.
