25 houses razed in Dagupan City

ITS one really sweltering summer and fires are coming dime a dozen.

In Dagupan City, 24 houses went up in smoke in a fire that broke out on interior Rivera Street here at about 10:40 p.m. on Monday, April 7.

One person, identified as Dave Anonay, was injured in the fire that was tapped out at 12:10 a.m. by firefighters from Dagupan City and adjacent towns of Pangasinan, including the city’s Panda volunteer firefighting brigade.

Fire Marshal Romualdo Mina said arson investigators are still probing the origin of the fire but hinted it could have been caused by a fallen candle that touched a flammable material since one of the houses where the fire was suspected to have originated had no electrical connection.

He said firemen had difficulty entering the fire scene to battle the conflagration because of the narrow passageways in the area.

The fire spread rapidly because the houses, most of them made of light materials, were adjacent to each other, he said.
It was the fourth or fifth fire to break out in Dagupan since January this year.
