SAN CARLOS CITY – A policeman assigned with the Dagupan City Police was shot dead by an enraged security guard in barangay Matagdem, this city after the latter found the police officer in bed with his wife before dawn of Maundy Thursday.

SPO2 Jimmy Cornel, assigned with the police community precinct 6 in Bonuan was lying in a pool of his own blood at the guard’s house when police investigators arrived. He was apparently surprised by his attacker while still in bed and was unable to fight back.

The incident occurred in the house of the guard in this city.

Police are still hunting down the suspect at presstime. Task force teams fanned out to Pampanga where he was believed to have fled. The report withheld the name of the suspect and the wife with whom Cornel fooled around.

Cornel was supposed to be on duty as police are on heightened alert.

Police investigators believed the illicit affair between the slain policeman and the security guard’s partner had been going on for some time, with Cornel sneaking into the house when the guard would go out to report for duty at midnight.

On Thursday, the driver happened to return to his house unexpectedly and was surprised by the bedroom scene he saw. It was not clear where he got the gun but he shot Cornel and fled.

The wife reported the killing to the police and surrendered the gun supposedly used by her husband in shooting her alleged policeman-lover.
