GMA steps up anti-poverty program in Malasiqui visit

PRESIDENT Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo steps up her rounds of the provinces anew Tuesday with a visit to Malasiqui, Pangasinan where she will launch a Day Care Food-for School program at the Malasiqui Central School and distribute various livelihood items and agricultural implements as part of the government’s anti-poverty program.

Upon arrival by helicopter before noontime, she will lead groundbreaking ceremonies at the school grounds for a two-storey, four-classroom building annex funded at P4 million.

The president will be welcomed by provincial officials led by Governor Amado T. Espino, Jr. and municipal leaders of Malasiqui led by Vice Mayor Mariano Espinosa on behalf of Mayor Armand Domantay who is currently abroad.

Launching of the food-for-school program will be held at the school’s covered court where townsfolk from the third district constituency of Rep. Rachel Arenas will receive in ceremonial handovers some 70 ‘Buntis Kits’ meant for pregnant mothers, 175 scholarship certificates from TESDA, 25 ‘Galing Mekaniko’ sets for mechanics and 70 Philhealth insurance cards out of a total 3,000 cards up for processing and distribution.

At least 519 land titles will also be handed over to agrarian reform beneficiaries .Two farm tractors, 10 irrigation pumps and five power sprayers will be turned over to mayors of recipient municipalities by the Department of Agriculture in the same ceremony. (BFH-PIA)
