Vintage bomb found in Ilocos Sur junkshop
BANTAY, Ilocos Sur—At least two pieces of vintage bombs of World War II type were recovered by police operatives in a junkshop in Barangay Naguiddayan this town recently.
A junkshop worker reported to the police station about the unusual types of materials he found in the premises of their shop.
PO3 Victorino Dasugo, radio operator of the Bantay Police Station, said policemen immediately rushed to the Gandara Junkshop where they found the vintage MK2 bombs.
Dasugo said the vintage bombs did not explode even if its levers and fuses were removed.
“The recovered vintage bombs are dangerous because these will explode when placed near a fire,” Dasugo said.
The vintage bombs are now in the custody of the Explosives and Ordnance Division (EOD) of the Ilocos Sur Police Provincial Office for proper disposal.
Another six pieces of vintage bombs were earlier recovered from the junkshop. (PNA)
