ALAMINOS CITY—This city in western Pangasinan will celebrate its annual city fiesta dubbed 2008 Hundred Islands Global Homecoming (HIGH) from March 14-18 this year.

The festivity in honor of Saint Joseph, the city’s patronal saint, has for its theme:, “Baley Co, Aroen Co…Gali La” (My town, I will love it, Come on).

Mayor Hernani Branganza said the celebration will indicate “the strong resolve, overwhelming support and unwavering commitment of Alaminians all over the world in realizing a more sustainable, livable, peaceful, progressive and green city of the Hundred Islands.”

LINGAYEN—A visitor here drowned on Monday while swimming along the Lingayen Beach early in the morning.

The victim was identified by the police as Ryan Tocio, 25, from Mandaluyong City, who arrived at the beach with five others.

His friend, Christian Felix, 22, joined him in the water and the two sank after being hit by big waves and did not surface anymore.

Rescuers tried to save the two but only Felix was successfully saved and immediately brought to the Lingayen Community Hospital.

The remains of Tocio has not yet been recovered. (PNA)



VIGAN CITY—Athletes from Ilocos Sur rev up their body by drinking calamansi juice.

Now the official energy drink of athletes campaigning in aports events including the just concluded Ilocos Region Athletic Association (IRAA) Meet in Pangasinan, the calamansi juice comes in bottles just like the commercial colas and is ready to drink.
