Tayug veem’s armed bodyguards caught
TAYUG—Four armed men, believed to be bodyguards of the town’s vice mayor, were arrested by the police while they were in the vicinity of the legislative building here at 11:30 a.m. of Thursday.
Arrested by a team from the 10th Police Mobile Group led by Superintendent Tommy Cabigas and the Tayug Police led by Superintendent Roberto Vocal were Joven Bautista, Rogelio Alcaneses, Sammy Rimas and Carlo Itchon.
Policemen seized from each of them a caliber .45 pistol.
Cabigas said the four could not present any document for their firearms, including permit to carry the same outside of their residence.
All were identified as bodyguards of Vice Mayor Janet Zaragosa who was at the time working at the second floor of the legislative building.
Bautista and Alcaneses were identified as the ones who shot and wounded two bodyguards of Tayug Mayor Carlos Trese Mapili when they saw each other at the town plaza sometime January.
The victims, Ruben Severino Jr. and Bimbo Clutario, are now already out of the hospital. Clutario is now disabled and Severino is blind in one eye.
The suspects surfaced after hiding for sometime as no warrant of arrest was issued against them yet.
It was learned that charges for frustrated murder have yet to be filed by the Assistant Provincial Prosecutor here against Bautista and Alcaneses before the court.
Concerned citizens called the 10th Police Mobile Group when they saw the four suspects acting suspiciously outside the town’s legislative building.
All four suspects are now in the custody of the 10th Mobile Police Group pending the filing of complaints against them. (PNA)
