World-class facilities for Dagupan pushed

THE days of foul-smelling restrooms, stagnant waste waters, defective flushes and faucets, and pests and rodents-infested kitchens and all other service areas of local restaurants and other public facilities in Dagupan City may soon be over

The city government has moved tocompel some business establishments, including public transport service depots, to implement corrective measures to ensure that all public facilities observe first rate standards on hygiene and sanitation.

Dr. Edwin Aguirre, executive assistant to the city mayor, said the newly created Task Force Aguila which he heads has already begun checking hotels, restaurants, including all public transport terminals to ensure that their respective service areas do not offend prospective clients and the general public.

Aguirre said the move is in full accord with the spirit and intent of City Ordinance No. 1728-2001 and the principal development blueprint of the city government that aims to complement Dagupan’s standing as a “healthy city”.
City administrator Alvin Fernandez noted that random check and visits by Task Force Aguila in various public facilities have yielded positive results with their conformity to the different recommendations by the task force.

He added that regular calls by the task force on these establishments have heightened awareness to keep public spaces and facilities “fresh, clean and spotless as a mark of an urbane and cosmopolitan community like Dagupan City.”
