San carlos City fire victims relocated

SAN CARLOS CITY –Market stallholders displaced by the fire that gutted the city’s old public market will be relocated to at least five sites.

Acting Mayor Joseres Resuello said the fire victims among market stallowners need not worry as they may be temporarily relocated to Malong Street, the Plaza Jaycees, the Central School, the old wet market near the Philippine National Police building and at the Phase IIarea of the new marketbuilding

Resuello who assumed leadership of the city government while his elder brother,Mayor Julier Resuello, is on official trip to the United States, inspected the fire scene Tuesday morning.

The fire destroyed 55 stalls of the old public market on Burgos Street. Loss was placed at P20 million, according to City Fire Marshal Armando Fernandez.

Fernandez said the fire started at 11 p.m. Monday, caused by an unattended grill stove of one ambulant vendor identified by one Lita Basang.

The blaze was put under control two hours later by combined firefighters from San Carlos City and nearby towns of Pangasinan

One person identified as Edward Tamayo suffered suffocation after inhaling the thick smoke from the fire. He was rushed by staff of the Philippine National Red Cross to the Virgen Milagrosa University Hospital for treatment.
