THE city government of Dagupan said it scored a moral victory in its drive to clear the sidewalks of illegal structures following an amicable settlement moderated by the Regional Trial Court on Thursday.
This stemmed from a civil action for injunction and petition for issuance of a temporary restraining order filed by at least seven property owners of Burgos Street against the defendant City Engineer’s Office represented by City Engineer Virginia Rosario.

ALAMINOS CITY – Some 200 couples will join a mass civil wedding on February 14, Valentine’s Day, at the Lucap Wharf as a special activity here for the Day of Hearts.
The mass wedding is meant primarily for couples who cannot afford the cost of getting married. Many of the expected couples are already living as husbands and wives for many years despite being unmarried.

A NON-GOVERNMENT organization composed of volunteer nurses and doctors is setting up an Animal Bite Center here to immunize and treat people bitten by animals like dogs, cats and rats.
Councilor Jesus Canto said Mayor Alipio Fernandez, Jr. with Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez will sign a memorandum of agreement shortly with RNMD Association as the latter’s center will be accommodated in one room of the City Health Office.

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – The government completed six major infrastructure projects in the Ilocos region last year, all costing P3.865 billion.
All these were built by the Department of Pubic Works and Highways (DPWH), the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) and the Local Water Districts.
These projects are in line with the continuing efforts to improve the socio-economic conditions of the people.

THE days of foul-smelling restrooms, stagnant waste waters, defective flushes and faucets, and pests and rodents-infested kitchens and all other service areas of local restaurants and other public facilities in Dagupan City may soon be over
The city government has moved tocompel some business establishments, including public transport service depots, to implement corrective measures to ensure that all public facilities observe first rate standards on hygiene and sanitation.

LINGAYEN – The Provincial Employment and Services Office (PESO) of Pangasinan facilitated the hiring of 13 job construction and industrial workers to giant corporations EEI Corporation and DMC Incorporated during the Special Jobs Fair held yesterday, January 31 at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center in Lingayen.
PESO-Pangasinan Chief Alex Ferrer said that some 171 welders and 36 mechanical engineers qualified during the one-day Job Fair will immediately undergo training in Subic, Olongapo City as shipbuilding staff.

LINGAYEN – A resolution was passed by the provincial board requesting Governor Amado T.Espino to create a commission that will conduct a comprehensive study on the origin and history of Pangasinan.
Resolution No. 442-2008 authored by 2nd District Board Member Nestor Reyes stated that the result of the study which could be a good material for scholars could help instill a sense of identity among Pangasinenses.
