Mayor, judge, ex-BSL man among beach lot claimants
A MUNICIPAL mayor , a judge and former official of the past city administration were among those tagged by a task force of the city government to have staked their claims on portions of the accretion area in Bonuan Blue Beach here.
City Engineer Virginia Rosario, chair of the Task Force on Squatting and Urban Poor Resettlement, named the claimants as Mayor Roy Macanlalay of Calasiao town and regional trail Court Judge Roberto Rudio.
The former city official during the administration of Mayor Benjamin S. Lim who personally admitted he is one of the applicants of public land in the accreted area is Rodolfo Fernandez, an engineer.
Fernandez, who was vice chairman of the previous task force on land recovery during the Lim administration, admitted he is a member of the Bonuan Binloc Coastal Neighborhood Association whose president is Juan Siapno, a lawyer.
Macanlalay, according to the task force, already built a high concrete fence with a steel gate on a 1,000 square-meter area.
Rudio, on the one hand, is currently constructing what appears to be a vacation house near the beach land claimed by Siapno, Rosario said.
Rosario said her office has issued three notices to Macanlalay ordering him to cease the construction of the concrete fence since July this year but which the latter allegedly ignored.
The task force invited all the land claimants of the beach land in Bonuan to show their land titles during their meeting on February 8 at city hall so that their structures may be spared from an impending demolition.
It was learned that all land claimants have no land titles and could only show Tax Declarations which however have all been ordered cancelled by Mayor Alipio Fernandez, Jr. in an executive order issued late last year (PNA)
