Dagupan to build 3 modern satellite markets
THREE modern satellite markets called ‘talipapa’ will be established by the city government this year in as many barangays of Dagupan City.
Mayor Alipio Fernandez, Jr. said the projects will be put up in barangays BonuanGueset, Bonuan Binloc and Carael which are quite far from the main market, the Malimgas Public Market in the city proper
Fernandez ordered planning and development coordinator Romeo Rosario to prepare the design for the three projects, each one of which is expected to cost P500,000.
These projects are included in the annual investment plan of the city for 2008 approved by the City Development Council.
Fernandez said the construction of market infrastructures in strategic areas of the city is one of his priority projects this year.
The mayor stressed that these projects will directly benefit low-income families in the barangays where these are located.
He said the markets will be a good source of fund for the city government and one way of helping enhance the entrepreneurial skills of barangay people. (PNA)
