Tayug vice mayor’s bodyguards still at large

THE police are following up leads on the whereabouts of two bodyguards of the Tayug vice mayor who shot and wounded two bodyguards of the town mayor, in a bloody grudge encounter between the two groups last Friday.

Now being hunted by police operatives are Joven Bautista and Lacay Alcaneses, both bodyguards of Vice Mayor Janet Zaragoza.
Already recovering from their respective wounds in different hospitals are Bimbo Clutario and Ruben Sotero Jr., both bodyguards of Mayor Carlos Trese Mapili.

Cluterio is confined at the Trauma Hospital in Dagupan City while Sotero is at the Sacred Heart Hospital in Urdaneta.

Meanwhile, another bodyguard of Mapili, Alas Pastor, said he and his driver narrowly escaped death whenthey were fired upon by supposed members of the Zaragoza family right after the first incident on Friday.

He said his van was peppered with bullets by the Zaragozas when they were negotiating a narrow street near the Zaragoza College in Tayug, a few minutes after Chitario and Sotelo were gunned down.

Mayor Mapili, reacting to the incident, said he will just leave the matter in the hands of the police.
