The two are the Marcelo Casillan Foundation (MCF) and the Binalatongan Historical and Cultural Foundation, both led by Marcelo Casillan Jr., an engineer.
The MCF bought millions of pesos worth of forest trees which it donated to the different elementary and high schools in the city for planting as their response to the phenomenon of climate change.
Aside from this, it built and donated an Olympic-size swimming pool, one dome-shape sports and cultural center, amphitheatre that can seat 1, 200 people and one monument of the city’s hero, Juan dela Cruz Palaris.
On the other hand, the BHCF is regularly staging competitions in music, dance, and the arts for the city’s talented youth and adults.
The other projects of the BHCF due to be finished this year are a diorama depicting the history and culture of the former Spanish town of Binalatongan, now San Carlos City; a book on the lives and accomplishments of all mayors of San Carlos, cultural presentations and seminars and workshops on arts.
Dr. Guido M. Tiong and Pator Pablo Macaranas, chairman and vice chairman, respectively, of the BHCF said the diorama is expected to be finished by April 2008.
