Barangay head, 2 others face murder try charge

TAYUG — A barangay captain, his brother, and a barangay councilman here are now reportedly in hiding after they were named in a complaint for attempted murder filed by an alleged bodyguard of Mayor Carlos Trese Mapili.

The complaint filed before the office of Assistant Provincial Prosecutor Noel Bince named the respondents as Allan Zaragoza, Barangay Captain of Barangay D here, his brother Leonil, and Wendel Pajela, councilman of Barangay D.

Allan was former vice mayor while Leonil was former councilor of Tayug.

The complainant was identified as Alas Pastor, alleged chief bodyguard of Mayor Mapili whose van he and his driver were riding was peppered with bullets supposedly fired by the suspects.

Pastor and his driver were unscathed in that incident.
The shooting incident happened just few minutes after Mapili’s other two bodyguards were gunned down by supposed bodyguards of Vice Mayor Janet Zaragoza at the town plaza.

Wounded in that incident were Bimbo Clutario and Ruben Severino Jr., also bodyguards of Mapili. Both are still fighting for their lives in separate hospitals in Pangasinan.

The suspects in that shooting incident who are still at large are Joven Bautista and Lacay Alcaneses. (PNA)
