Abra mayor, police escorts nabbed at La Union beach resort
BAUANG, La Union—Police operatives here disarmed an Abra town mayor and his two police escorts for rowdy conduct while having a drinking spree in one of the beach resorts here Saturday evening.
This happened shortly after one of the escorts of Mayor Edwin Crisologo of Tineg, Abra reportedly fired his gun indiscriminately, prompting resort employees to seek assistance from the La Union Police.
Senior Superintendent Pedro Obaldo, La Union assistant police provincial director for administration, led the responding policemen.
Police identified the police escorts of the mayor as PO3 Lindon Adriano and PO2 Florentino Sannadan.
Obaldo said that the mayor’s escorts, who were in police uniform, were drinking liquor when he and the responding members of the La Union police arrived at the resort.
During the interrogation, the mayor’s group vehemently denied having fired their guns indiscriminately.
Nevertheless, they were disarmed of two M16 armalite rifles, two .9mm pistols and one caliber 45 pistol.
Obaldo said that Crisologo’s group was heavily drunk.
The mayor and the policemen were taken into custody by the Bauang Police for paraffin tests. (PNA)
