City revenues for 2007 up

REVENUE collections of Dagupan City from real property, business and community taxes and miscellaneous fees registered a 9.10 percent increase for 2007.

Records revealed last year’s collections from all these sources totaled P407, 788,784.59.

A report from the city’s One-Stop Business Center (OSBC) showed the total collection is P34, 027, 853.96 greater than the 2006 total collection.

Real property tax posted a 12.46 percent increase or P3, 086, 269.99 higher than last year’s collection.

Total collections from business tax and licenses reached P93, 727, 426.76 which is 9.44% higher than last year’s total collection of P85, 643, 455.78

Community tax collections also showed an increase last year when it turned in P5, 042, 068.23. The figure represents an increase of P103, 281.70 or 2.09 percent over the previous year’s collection.

There was however a slight decrease in collections for miscellaneous fees by 7.52 percent or P4, 536, 668.15 as compared to the 2006 collection.

A 9.54% decline was also recorded for collection on market fees where collection amounted to P25, 292, 204.94 which meant a P2, 666,933.16 decrease compared to the 2006 collection.

Income from fishery rental fees and charges also incurred a dramatic 49.33% decrease from P2, 701, 647.75 in 2006 to P1, 368, 941 this year.

City agriculturist Emma Molina explained that the decrease was brought about by the implementation of Ordinance No. 1897-2007 which grants 50% discount on the payment of aqua lease agreement fees by fishpen operators in the city.

A total of 636 new business establishments registered their operations with the city government, while 3, 655 business permits were renewed.

Some P1.9 million is projected to be collected from tax delinquencies, according to OSBC OIC Digna Liwanag even as she said that her office is consistently serving notice of delinquency to delinquent taxpayers.

Liwanag said the OSBC processed a total of 175, 529 transactions for 2007 which is equivalent to an average of 665 transactions per day.

A daily average transaction of 1, 114 however, was recorded during the peak months of January to March. (PNA)
