Ilocos Sur village head wanted for murder
VIGAN CITY—Murder and frustrated murder charges were filed before the provincial prosecution office against a barangay chairman tagged as the principal suspect in the slaying of one person and wounding of another in a shooting incident in barangay Pug-os, Sinait, Ilocos Sur.
The suspect, Barangay Captain Marion Ines of Pug-os in Sinait, is now the subject of an intensive police manhunt.
Senior Inspector Alexander Aurelio, Sinait police chief, reported that Ines was earlier identified as the one who shot to death Antonio Vigilia, 33, barangay Mangalaoi, Currimao, Ilocos Sur.
Wounded in the shooting was Roel Conception, 23, of Barangay Pug-os, Sinait, Ilocos Sur.
The incident happened while the victim and the suspect were at a birthday party at the residence of Felianiana Ancheta of Barangay Pug-os, Sinait.
A commotion broke out after Ines shot Vigilia in the head and body killing the latter immediately. Concepcion, a bystander, was wounded in the chest and left arm and was rushed to Corpuz Clinic before being transferred to the Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital in Ilocos Norte for further treatment.
It was Concepcion, in his hospital bed, who identified the barangay head as the gun wielder.
Investigators reported that a caliber 9mm. pistol was used in the shooting as evidenced by five empty shells found at the crime scene. (PNA)
