Ayoy disappointed on case progress of father’s slaying
SAN CARLOS CITY— The incumbent city mayor here is not contented with the sluggish pace of the investigation on the slaying of his father, the late San Carlos City Mayor Julian Resuello.
Mayor Julier Resuello said even after President Gloria Arroyo promised P1 million reward to any person who can furnish valuable information to the police for the arrest of the perpetrators, including the mastermind, solution to the slaying of his father seems still far off.
San Carlenians fear the police investigation, still very inconclusive, coulds go the way of other major unsolved killings of political figures in the province.
Julier, who was vice mayor then, assumed as mayor upon the death of his father in a shooting incident on the night of April 28, 2007 at the jampacked San Carlos City auditorium.
The first father and son tandem that ever ruled San Carlos City sought to switch posts in the May 14 polls as the elder Resuello was already ineligible for reelection.
Mayor Resuello noted that the only arrested suspect, Angelito Soriano, remains in jail but continuously denies his involvement although he was positively identified by one of the wounded as one of the gunmen.
Another suspect, Cesar de Guzman alias, “Cabeza” reportedly escaped after the shooting and still the object of manhunt. (PNA)
