Texas cop trains local enforcers

GUN HANDLING as practised and lived by the San Antonio, Texas police in the United States formed a major part of a firearms training recently conducted for Pangasinan police officers and men by a visiting Filipino-American peace officer based in the Lone Star state.

Texas police officer Monico Siapno Meneses, a certified law enforcement firearms instructor in the US and a native of Bonuan in Dagupan City was guest lecturer during the training held at the Pangasinan Provincial Police Office in Lingayen last Thursday, Jan. 3.

Meneses, a recipient of several National Champion trophies and awards in shooting competitions, both in the police service and outside, in the United States, shared his knowledge and skills in handgun and shotgun handling under difficult circumstances while on and off duty.

He also passed on to his local counterparts in the law enforcement service some survival techniques on saving other people’s lives, using a powerpoint presentation and films to illustrate the key moves to some 25 participants coming from various police stations and the PNP headquarters.

The visiting Texas police officer was welcomed by Provincial Police Director Isagani Nerez who lauded the opportunity to learn techniques from one among the best police outfits in the world and home of the famous Texas Rangers of the US.
