Governor Amado T. Espino, Jr. asked local executives to support his vision even as he commended the Pangasinan Council of Tourism Industries Inc. (PCTII) for its plan to launch a tourism magazine set to come out last week of January 2008.

LINGAYEN – Only one municipality in the province has a full-time public employment service officer, the rest being just designates to the jobs often in addition to their regular work, according to Alex Ferrer, manager of the provincial employment service office.

The fifth district town of Villasis is the only town which appointed a full-time PESO manager, beating even the four cities.

LINGAYEN – Some 5,000 delegates from the Pangasinan-speaking towns of central Pangasinan are expected to attend the three-day annual District Convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center here on December 28-30.

The convention’s theme is “Follow the Christ.”

THE provincial board has approved a budget of P1.32 billion for the operations of the provincial government next year.

Set into operation by Appropriation Ordinance No. 5 series of 2007, the provincial budget is 16 percent higher than this year’s P1.4 billion budget.

The newly approved budget showed the bulk of the General Fund going to health –related expenditures, infrastructure, and provincial office operations.

SAN FERNANDO, La Union – The rehabilitation of the San Fernando Airport at Poro Point here estimated at P500 million is now in full swing, a Philippine Information Agency report stated.

Funded by the Bases Conversion Development Authority (BCDA), the project is expected to turn the San Fernando Airport into a modern facility that complies with international civil aviation standards.

MORE than 6,000 indigents from the city’s 31 barangays can now avail of free hospitalization under the national health insurance program.

This number of the city’s poor was enrolled by the city with the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), the city paying the one-year premium of the indigents beginning September. The premium covers till September 15 next year.

A CITY official said the city government will not let anarchy reign again in the Tondaligan in Bonuan Blue Beach here as in the past.

City Planning and Development Coordinator Romeo Rosario said that on orders of Mayor Alipio Fernandez, Jr., the city government is bent on reclaiming the park’s beach area from people who used the same for their own selfish interest.

These people constructed sheds and cottages which they rented out to beachgoers and even served as cheap motels for couples dating in the park.

A MAN was shot and killed at about 7:30a.m. on Thursday just after dropping his daughter to school at the Gregorio del Pilar Elementary School in Bonuan Gueset, Dagupan City.

The fatality was identified through his identification card as a certain Danny Macaraeg, 58, a native of Sison, Pangasinan but residing in Bonuan Boquig in Dagupan.
