De venecia urges PNP: Complete Batasan bombing probe
HOUSE Speaker Jose de Venecia Jr. has urged the Philippine National Police to complete the investigation into the bombing at the south wing lobby of the House of Representatives on November 13.
In that incident, Basilan Congressman Wahah Akbar and three others were killed while 11 other persons, including other solons, were injured.
Calling a local radio station here from Manila on Monday morning, De Venecia said although the PNP announced that the case was already solved, they must complete the investigation in order to satisfy all concerned.
“They said they (PNP) already solved the case but t is not yet complete, so they must go on till its final conclusion,” de Venecia told Aksyon Radyo Dagupan.
Three persons were killed and three others were arrested in a raid by the police in Payatas, Quezon City on November 15, two days after the incident that killed Basilan Congressman Wahab Akbar and three others and injured 11 persons including two other representative.
Those arrested were already charged with four counts of murder and multiple murder before the Quezon City court.
De Venecia said he is inclined to believe the initial finding of the PNP that Akbar was the target of the bombers but added the police has to complete the solution to be fully convincing.
