German national thanks barangay for robber’s arrest

A WOMAN German national expressed profused thanks to two barangay officials who collared an 18-year old boy just after stealing jewelry from her rented apartment on Monday night.

The boy gained access to the rented apartment of rose Falkenberg, 58, on Primicias Street by scaling a high concrete fence and entering the apartment through its open dirty kitchen.

Timely action of two barangay officials led to the arrest of Crisanto de la Cruz, 18, who was caught armed with a pointed weapon.

Mrs. Falkenberg was already sleeping inside her room on Nov. 5 at around 8 p.m. when the robbery took place.

The boy took one stainless ladies watch (King quarts), a gold college ring and one gold ladies ring with pearl, all estimated to be around P50,000.

The suspect escaped by jumping off from the same fence.
He was spotted however by councilmen Daniel Macaraeg and Hiram Hidalgo, who were then having a conversation in front of the apartment. They accosted and frisked him.

The stolen items were brought to Lingayen Police Station for custodial investigation before they were returned to the owner. (PNA)
