HOUSE Speaker Jose C.De Venecia, Jr. deplored as “vicious disinformation” reports in national media that he is seeking the replacement — among several other members of the President’s cabinet — of Health Secretary Francisco Duque III and Undersecretary Antonio Villar Jr., the administration’s anti-smuggling czar.

LINGAYEN – Gov. Amado Espino Jr. has announced that the provincial government now works with a leaner but effective workforce as compared with the situation during the past provincial administration.

In his ‘First 100 Days’ report to the people of Pangasinan, Espino said that after taking over the helm of the provincial government, he reduced the number of casual and contractual
employees from 1,097 to only 700. Read more

DENGUE cases in Pangasinan totaled only 590 from January to September this year, a sharp drop from the 2,040 recorded in the same period last year.

The number of deaths also dropped significantly from 23 last year to 12 this year, according to health education promotion officer Priscilla Bersamin of the provincial health office. Read more

SHIPPERS and suppliers of milkfish to Dagupan City will now have to produce the auxiliary invoice of their products, otherwise their fish would be ignored in the city’s fish market.

City Agriculture Emma Molina said this is one of the measures adopted by the city to protect the native Dagupan bangus from the incursion of milkfish coming from other areas, such as Bulacan, Pampanga and Batangas that often taste like mud.

Auxiliary invoices are issued by the municipality or city where the fish products come from, Molina said, adding that it will indicate what town, province or region the commodity originated. Read more

THE city election office announced that a total of 937 candidates are contesting various position in the barangay elections and 539 in the Sangguniang Kabataan elections all over Dagupan as of midnight of October 18.

City Election Officer Remarque Ravanzo said on Friday the candidates come from the 31 barangays of the city.

PANGASINAN’S most wanted man was arrested on Thursday after hiding out for years in Silang, Cavite.

Arrested by joint elements of the Provincial Intelligence Branch and the 106th Provincial Mobile Group led by Group Director Inspector Frankie S. Candelario was Tirso del Rosario, 52, a native of barangay Centro Toma, Bani.

The wanted man is facing criminal charges for murder with the use of unlicensed firearm and carried P140,000 reward for his capture. Read more
