Traffic enforcer bumped by DPWH van dies
A TRAFFIC enforcer riding on a motorcycle died when his vehicle was bumped from behind by a van owned by the 3rd Highway District Engineering Office of the Department of Public Works and Highways along a provincial road in barangay San Jose, Urdaneta City Tuesday afternoon.
The fatality was identified as Eduardo Solomon, a traffic enforcer of San Carlos City and driver of the motorcycle which was bumped from behind by a Toyota RAV4 van owned by the DPWH and driven by Romulo Paran, alias “Mulong”, 51.
Due to the strong impact, the motorcycle where Solomon was on board was dragged by the van 20 meters away, killing the victim instantly.
A companion of Solomon, Marlon Ferrer, escaped death as he had just alighted to inquire for direction on which road leads to Manaoag from some bystanders when the van came speeding and hit the motorcycle.
On board the van at the time of the accident was Assistant District Engineer Marieta Barbiran Mendoza and a certain Boyet Mendoza.
A case of reckless imprudence resulting to homicide is now being filed against driver of the DPWH van. (PNA)
