More violence as Barangay, SK polls near

MORE election-related incidents were reported by the police in various parts of Pangasinan in the run up of tomorrow’s barangay elections.

he new incidents could compel the police to recommend to the Commission on Election more places in Pangasinan as areas of immediate concern.

At present, only two barangays were recommended by Police Provincial Director Isagani Nerez as areas of immediate concern.
These are Nibaliw Vidal in San Fabian and Carriedo in Tayug.

Among the latest incident was the slaying of a former barangay captain by the incumbent barangay captain of Bogalon in Labrador town at 9:30 p.m. on Monday.

The fatality was identified as Loreto Ugaban, 67, a businessman who was sot with a 12-gauge shot gun by Mario Uson, incumbent barangay captain of Bogalon. Uson fled and is now being hunted, along with some of his companions.

Ugaban, who is the campaign manager of his nephew Dr. Joel Ugaban, in the election for barangay captain of Bogalon against Uson, died on the spot.

In another incident on Monday, a three-term councilor of Alcala town, Juan Ablao, 55, was shot dead by still unidentified gunman at the Plaza of barangay San Pedro Apartado in Alcala.

Ablao’s body was noticed by Sangguniang Kabataan Chairman Eric Baguilod and a certain Juan Tolentino when they were passing by the barangay plaza.
