Alcala town dad shot dead
ALCALA – A three-term councilor was shot and killed by a still unidentified gunman in barangay Don Pedro Apartado at 7 p.m. on Monday, the police said.
SPO4 Roberto Soriano Saguin, deputy chief of police of Alcala, identified the fatality as Councilor Juan Ablao, 55, who sustained a gunshot wound in the head.
The victim was immediately rushed by relatives to the San Juan Bautista Hospital in Bautista town but was pronounced dead on arrival by an attending physician.
Investigation showed that before the shooting, Ablao was restraining some children from exploding firecrackers at the barangay plaza near his residence.
The body of the councilor was found by Ericson Baguilod, Sangguniang Kabataan chairman of the barangay and a certain Tolentino sprawled in the barangay plaza bathing in his own blood.
Motive fore the killing is still unknown. Saguin initially ruled out politics as possible motive. (PNA)
