Ilocos Sur governor opens 24-hour public service
VIGAN CITY – Ilocos Sur Gov. Deogracias Victor “DV” B. Savellano has launched his 24/7 public service program for his provincemates using advanced electronic communications technology that is now available to all.
The 24/7 public service means service to the people 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the governor explained.
He did this by opening three cell phone helplines, such as 09178080330 for Globe Telecom, 09188821111 for Smart and 09228112112 for Sun Cellular.
All these will serve as contact numbers for his constituents in case they need help from him.
“A required eight-hour office works per day for a civil servant is not enough to address and serve the problems of our people, so I’m extending my 24-hour service by using just my finger tips to act on the problems brought out by them anytime, anywhere through texting or dialing, our cell phone helplines,” Savellano said.
“If we have a 24-hour service from telecommunication and electric companies, we have also a round-the-clock daily service from the provincial government of Ilocos Sur,” he added.
He added that residents of the upland areas of the province may just contact him via the helplines, instead of traveling too long in order to reach his office and tell their problems.
“This strategy is costless but effective and more convenient in reaching out our services to our people,” he said.
With the fast changing and advanced technologies, there is a need to maximize all these in order to give effective, immediate and pro-active services to the public, Savellano said.
According to the governor, all suggestions for the betterment of his administration may also be brought to him using the cellphones helplines.
