Suspected gunrunner arrested

URDANETA CITY – A suspected member of a gunrunning syndicate operating in eastern Pangasinan was arrested by the police on Wednesday in a raid at his residence in barangay Anonas here.

The suspect was identified as Arsenio Manangan, alias “Francing”, a former Army soldier who was believed to be connected with a gunrunning syndicate operating in the province’s eastern part.

The raid in Manangan’s house at 7:30 a.m. of September 26 was participated in by joint elements of the Special Operation Group, Pangasinan Provincial Police Office, Regional Intelligence Division and Urdaneta Police.

The raiders were armed with a search warrant issued by Regional Trail Court Judge Rolando Mislang of Branch 42 in Dagupan City.

Seized from the suspect’s residence were one 5.56mm Baby Armalite, one Caliber .45 Colt pistol; five long magazines for M16 rifle; seven short magazines for M16 rifle; 42 rounds of live ammunitions for M16 rifle; five rounds of live ammunitions for Caliber 45 pistol; one short magazine for Carbine; and one holster for Caliber .45 pistol.

The confiscated items and Mannagan were brought to the police provincial headquarters in Lingayen for proper disposition.

The police already field appropriate charges against the suspect. (PNA)
