A TOTAL of 118,503 youth, aged from 15 to 17, will go to the polls in the 48 towns and cities f Pangasinan on October 29, simultaneous with the barangay elections.

Provincial Elewtions Officer Reddy Balarbar said the biggest number of SK members are located in San Carlos City with7,878 followed by Malasiqui, 6,177 and Bayambang, 5,697.

Dagupan City and Binmaley have 5, 324 and 4,836, respectively.

The last SK election was held in the country iin 2002.

All the prospective candidates foor the barangay and SK electionsmay now file their respective certificates of candidacy from September 29 to October 18, according To Balarbar.

Balarbar said at this stage, it’s all systems go for the two elections after the Senate turned down a move of the House of Representatives to have these elections postponed.

The SK elections will be held in every barangay. Whoever is elected chairman/chairwoman will assemble at a later date and hold elections among themselves for to choose the city or municipal chairman.

The winner becomes the municipal./city chairman who shall sit as ex-officio member of the municipal/city council.

All municipal/city chairmen will hold another election among themselves to choose who will be the provincial federation chairman and automatically ex-officio member of the provincial board. (PNA)
