Lawmen’s report on slaying of lawyers held behind closed doors
LAW ENFORCEMENT units looking into the rash of killings of lawyer in Pangasinan sought and were given a closed-door meeting with city councilors about their report on the cases.
Members of the city council headed by Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez held an executive session Tuesday morning to hear the report behind close door on the investigation of various agencies in connection with the slaying of lawyers.
Lawyer Jose Doloiras, agent-in-charge of the National Bureau of Investigation in Pangasinan, Dagupan City Police Chief Dionicio Borromeo, Public Order and Safety Office Chief Robert Erfe Mejia and representatives from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and the Police Provincial Office asked for an executive session with Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez and the councilors.
The executive session was moved by Councilor Luis Samson Jr., chair of the committee on peace and order, upon the request of Supt. Borromeo in view of the confidentiality of the matters that they were to discuss.
Also present at the executive session were members of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines chapter who were appealing to the NBI, police and other law-enforcement arms of the government to do everything possible to protect lawyers and speed up the investigation on the slaying of their colleagues that reminded unsolved.
The IBP members appealed for the speedy probe in the slaying of Atty. Alejo Dojillo of San Fabian, an Ombudsman investigator, Conrado ‘Pacpac’ Soriano of San Carlos city, Judge Oscar Uson of Dagupan City; and Froilan Siobal of Bani.
Until today, the perpetrators of the crimes who are supposed to be hired killers, are still on the loose with no suspect ever arrested so far.
