Alaminos City celebrates 2nd year of Hundred Islands turnover from PTA

ALAMINOS CITY –This scenic city in western Pangasinan has just thrown a a grand celebration on the 2nd anniversary of the turnover to the city government of the famous Hundred Islands National Park (HINP) from the Philippine Tourism Authority.

A photo gallery and videoke challenge fired up the adrenaline Of Alaminos folk for the celebration last Friday.

Yesterday, people flocked to a simple program attended By Gov. Amado T. Espino as guest of honor with Mayor Hernani Braganza and Vice Mayor Teofilo Humilde Jr, doing the welcome honors.

The two city officials cited the city’s big gains in the environment and economic fronts since the Hundred Islands was returned to its historical and original owner, the city government for its homegrown local development.

Highlights of the celebration, according to City administrator Wilmer Panabang were a kayak and paraw (sailboat) races participated in by various individuals in the city’s 10 coastal communities and other guests.

A Hundred Islands T-Shirt Design Competition also drew participation oflocal freelance, professional, amateur designers, art enthusiasts and those in the silk-screen and rubberized printing business to show their creativity.

Theme of the contest was “Hundred Islands, an Eco-Tourism Destination.”

The winning designs, according to Panabang, will be used for future promotional materials for the city and the Islands to show pride in Alaminos’ being “a perfect eco-tourism haven in the country.”

Winners were announced and prizes awarded yesterday evening during a live band entertainment at the lighthouse area.
