3rd & final notice to illegal fishpen owners out

ALL the 100 illegal fish pens that had remained in various rivers in the city are up for demolition soon—hopefully, finally.

City Agriculture Officer Emma Molina said her office has already sent first and second notices to owners of the illegal fish pens for them to voluntarily demolish their contraptions.

She said a third and final notice is on the way and if they still refuse to budge, her office will demolish the pens of the owners at their own expense.

Molina admitted that the pens had increased with the change of the new city administration but added that her office will continue to be vigilant against these contraptions.

Despite several efforts, the past city administration here never succeeded in doing away with the illegal fish pens in Pugaro, Salapingao, Lomboy and sitio Sabangan in Bonuan Gueset.

A fishkill occured in Dagupan City last week, bringing a total damage of only P186,000 to local fish farmers.
The fishkill stemmed from depletion of oxygen in the water due to slow movement of the water caused by neap tides as a result of the change in the face of the moon.
