LAW ENFORCEMENT units looking into the rash of killings of lawyer in Pangasinan sought and were given a closed-door meeting with city councilors about their report on the cases.

BINALONAN – The latest university to rise in Pangasinan is in this town which has joined other local government units that now own and operate universities.

The University of Eastern Pangasinan (UEP), owned by the municipal government of Binalonan, received a certificate of authority to operate from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). Read more

STA. BARBARA – This town has not given up on its dream to be the site of an international airport to be built by the government for Pangasinan.

Mayor Reynaldo Velasco said even Gov. Amado Espino Jr. agreed with him that Sta. Barbara is the best place in the province for an international airport.

“This had long been a dream of the people of Sta. Barbara and Pangasinan which Governor (Amado) Espino and I are determined to push,” said Velasco, a retired police deputy director general.

8 die from dengue fever in Ilocos Sur

VIGAN CITY – Eight persons have died from dengue fever in Ilocos Sur in the last nine months ending September 15 this year.
Rogelio Varilla, Provincial Malaria and Dengue Officer however cautioned the people not to panic because the deaths occurred in separate areas of the province.

He said the casualties, mostly children, were from Vigan City, San Juan, Bantay, Sta. Catalina, Caoayan, Narvacan, Sta. Maria and Santiago towns.

“As of second week of September, the occurrence of dengue fever in the province is not yet alarming because the casualties were from separate places in the province,” according to him. Read more

ALL the 100 illegal fish pens that had remained in various rivers in the city are up for demolition soon—hopefully, finally.

City Agriculture Officer Emma Molina said her office has already sent first and second notices to owners of the illegal fish pens for them to voluntarily demolish their contraptions.

She said a third and final notice is on the way and if they still refuse to budge, her office will demolish the pens of the owners at their own expense. Read more
