Alaminos city jins rule reg’l inter-school jousts

ALAMINOS CITY – The Hundred Islands Taekwondo Club (HITC), particularly the Mary the Queen Educational Foundation, ruled the recently concluded 2007 Regional Inter-School Championship held in Dagupan City.

MQEF bested 17 schools in the entire Region 1, composing of Pangasinan, La Union, Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte, bagging a total of eight gold medals, six silvers and nine bronzes.

Champions in their respective divisions were Alvin Cale, Allan de Guzman, Jilliane Clarence Dela Cruz, Rommel Dona, Melanie Hope Douglas, Terrence Marc Esquera, Maureen Erika Garcia and Kim Angela.

Silver medalists were Cristina Mae Agbayani, Sean Rey Austria, Roel Jay Gambil, Jerickson Ramos, Mara Francini Reyes and Gerlie Birog.

\Also winning the bronze medalists were Jeannie Catunga, Kirt Douglas Jr., Jeanette Gracia, Carl Drexter Langit, John Daryl Langit, Yvonne Manantan, Lorenz Gabriel Ruiz and Allyssa Nicole Tersol.

The HITC and MQEF Taekwondo Team headed by its president Mrs. Melba Cabatic is expected to pay a courtesy call on Mayor Hernani A. Braganza to present the championship trophy.

According to Elvis TC. Sison, city consultant for sports, this was the first time that the city’s young jins won a championship crown outside Alaminos.

“We are hoping that they remain healthy, competitive and able to sustain their winning ways come their big games, added Sison.”

The Braganza administration has provided various sports gears, equipment, and the bet trainers and even institutionalized annual sports festivals or tournaments in the city. (PNA)
