Laud city police OIC for big anti-drugs drive
THE newly assumed officer-in-charge of the Dagupan Police was commended by the city council for leading in the successive arrests of 16 drug pushers and or users in just one day after assuming his post.
The commendation given to Supt. Dionisio Borromeo, who assumed as OIC chief of police on August 6 this year was contained in a resolution approved by the city council on Tuesday.
It was proposed on joint motion of Councilors Luis Samson Jr. and Danilo Torio, chairman and vice chairman of the committee on peace and order, respectively.
Torio said this was the first time in the history of Dagupan that in just a day, 16 drug pushers were arrested under the watch of the new OIC chief of police.
He said Dagupan is very fortunate that it has a police officer in the person of Borromeo who is very sincere in eradicating the evils of drug abuse in the city.
Borromeo, a graduate of Philippine Military Academy Class of 1986, was former group director of the Regional Mobile Group based at Camp Oscar Florendo in San Fernando City, La Union.
Vice Mayor and city council presiding officer Belen Fernandez said that based on the statement of Councilors Samson and Torio, Supt. Borromeo broke the records of all those who served as chiefs of police of Dagupan.
“We in the city council would like to appeal to Colonel Borromeo to continue his good start so that the drug problem in the city that is affecting our local youth would be finally eradicated,” she said.
As this developed, Mayor Alipio Fernandez Jr. is set to name Vice Mayor Fernandez as executive director of the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC) that will spearheaded a comprehensive information education campaign on the evils of illegal drugs.
