President ups reward for info on gunman in Resuello slay

REMINDED of the dragging police investigation to find the killers of a fallen political ally, President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo has increased the reward for the capture, dead or alive, of one of two gunmen who shot and killed Mayor Julian Resuello of San Carlos City on April 28, 2007 to P1 million.

Police Provincial Director Senior Supt. Isagani Nerez said President Arroyo did this when she was in Rosales, Pangasinan on Wednesday to inaugurate a P40 million central transport terminal, during her talk with Pangasinan officials, among them Mayor Julier Resuello, son of the slain Mayor.

Nerez said the President added P500,000 more to the earlier P500,000 prize pledged by concerned citizens, including House Speaker Jose de Venecia Jr. who earlier committed P200,000 to the total.

The P1 million reward will be given to any person who may furnish valuable information to the police that could lead to the arrest of Cesar de Guzman, alias “Cabeza”, one of two triggermen in the slaying of Resuello and one of the latter’s civilian bodyguards.

The other gunman, Angelito Soriano of Malasiqui town, was already arrested and charged with double murder and multiple frustrated murder before the Regional Trial Court in San Carlos City.

The police considers the Resuello slaying as only 50 percent solved as De Guzman is still at large. (PNA)
