P5M generated by Hundred Islands in first 5 months
ALAMINOS CITY – The Hundred Islands National Park generated a revenue of some P5 million for the first five months this year, according to the Alaminos City government.
City Mayor Hernani Braganza said the collection exceeded by some P300,000 the P4.7 million revenue generated by the Hundred Islands for the whole year of 2006.
The amount was generated from domestic and foreign tourists who visited the Hundred Islands from January to May this year.
Of the P5 million revenue generated so far, P1.7 million came from ticket sales or entrance fees of people going to the Hundred Islands.
The ticket, secured at a ticketing center at Lucap, the jump off point to the Hundred Islands, costs P20 per head.
All these revenues accrued directly to the city government which now manages the Hundred Islands since two years ago after it was turned over by the Philippine Tourism Authority.
Braganza said the biggest revenues were generated in April, the peak month for tourist arrivals in the Hundred Islands.
Statistics showed the biggest number of foreign tourists who visited the Hundred Islands last year were the Americans and Koreans. (PNA)
