UMINGAN – A barangay captain here died a few hours after he was shot by unidentified gunmen aboard a motorcycle along the national road in barangay Gonzales, Umingan last Saturday at 8:20 a.m.

Rodolfo Angala, 57, barangay captain of San Pablo, Umingan, was riding in another motorcycle while proceeding to the town proper when his assailants followed him and shot him from a few meters behind.

Angala was rushed by bystanders to the Trauma Polymedic Hospital in Villasis, some 20 kilometers away where he died while undergoing treatment.

Despite his wounds, Angala tried to outrun the suspects but due to loss of blood, he eventually weakened and crashed his motorcycle ion a tree near the roadside.

Responding elements of the Umingan Police Station recovered from the crime scene four empty shells and a deformed slug for Caliber .45 pistol near the crime scene.
