MIND and body competitions.

After the PD (P/SSupt. Isagani Nerez) Marathon, there’s the PNP On-the-Spot Poster Making Contest held at the police provincial headquarters in Lingayen.

It was a face-off between Pangasinan I and Pangasinan II Schools Division (I wonder why they did not include the four City Schools Divisions). Dr. Marisol Mamaradlo of Pangasinan I said that the last time the two schools division competed against each other in poster making contest was five years ago.

The theme was “Healthy Lifestyle para sa Magandang Kinabukasan.

Champion was Camella Ann Macayan of Villasis I Central School while Engel Joy Isla of Pozorrubio Central I School and Mark Daniel Avila of Anda Central School were first and second runners-up respectively.

Col Nerez said they are planning to organize chess and scrabble competitions to keep the school children busy even during the raining season.

Meanwhile, the PD Cyling Cup will be held fourth week of August. So all interested cyclists may inquire at the Pangasinan Police command for details.

I learned from Engr. Sammy Revita that the Rosales Common Terminal will be inaugurated on August 1 with Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo as special guest.

Speaking about chess, young chess wiz Samantha Glo Revita will pay the President a courtesy call on that day.

Next to watch out for is the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections scheduled on October 29. Before that, though, is the election of officers of the Pangasinan Councilors League.

Personal. Happy birthday to kumare Ilet (of Aksyon Radyo Pangasinan) who refuses to divulge her age; to my nephew John Matthew “Richard” Mananta.
