LINGAYEN – The vaunted Agbayani magic did not work for a daughter-in-law in the last May 14 elections after a former police officer and incumbent congressman shattered it in last Monday’s polls.

Dr. Jamie Agbayani, wife of outgoing Gov. Victor E. Agbayani lost her gubernatorial bid to second district Congressman Amado “Spines” Espino. She trailed him by some 36,000 votes in the final official count of the Commission on Elections.

Ironically, Victor emerged winner in the three-cornered fight for congressman in the second district, the very district where wife Jamie was buried in an avalanche of votes by Espino Victor easily defeated Jose Bengson III and Kim Manaois Lokin, an incumbent party-list representative. Read more
