PNP to secure 4 mayors marked for liquidation

CAMP OSCAR FLORENDO, La Union– The police will not sit idly by on reports that four more mayors in Pangasinan have been marked for liquidation by supposed hired killers on or before the May 14 elections.

The four are now reportedly the next targets of the guns-for-hire after eliminating their first target, Mayor Julian Resuello of San Carlos City, last April 30, all for a supposed contract price of P7 million.

Police Regional Director Chief Superintendent Leopoldo Bataoil said he has ordered police chiefs to address the security concerns of the four mayors and at the same time opened communication lines of the police with them.

Bataoil said if the mayors need more securities, he will deploy some personnel from the Regional Mobile Group for the purpose which he also did earlier in San Carlos City.

Guns-for-hire were also tagged as responsible for the slaying of Vice Mayor Adolfo Aquino of Mapandan sometime in 2005.

Empty shells found at the scene where Resuello was gunned down had cross-matched with the empty shells found when Aquino was killed at the premises of the Mapandan municipal hall two years ago.
